SISFI's Abuse and Domestic Violence Intelligence Solutions Summit that's focusing on Abuse, Bullying, Domestic Violence, Suicide & Mental Health Services & Solutions for all
On Wednesday, April 11th 2012, 8am-5pm, SISFI will host our first Annual Abuse and Domestic Violence Intelligence Solutions Summit “ADVISS” to provide a real look at the state of our society and how it is affected by the issues of abuse, bullying, domestic violence and suicide, and the ensuing mental, psychological, physical and health issues from them. We have reached out to our partners and other organizations, agencies and groups to join us in this effort to bring much need focus and attention to the “solutions” of these social and societal issues.
Every day we talk about the problems, how fed up we are that they’re happening and ask about how they can be stopped and prevented, but we hardly ever know or speak of the effective ways and solutions to the stop and fix the problems. As a youth/family serving and community solution provider, we deal with these issues every day in our organization as the issues proliferate from home to school, to work, to the community and back into the home and so we want to take the needed steps to open up the real world issue to the real world as we live, breath, work, play and sleep in./with them.
The Summit will be a full day event with sessions focusing on:
- The trends, levels and impacts of Abuse (bullying, technological, spousal, dating, workplace, sexual, substance, suicide/bullycide)
- The trends, levels and impacts of Domestic Abuse/Violence (rape, sexual assault, teen dating, guns, gangs, physical, beating, at home and in the workplace)
- The Mental Health Impacts of Abuse and Domestic Abuse/Violence (stress, emotional stress, depression, anxiety, withdrawal, trauma, grief and loss)
- The impacts and effects of Abuse and Domestic Abuse/Violence on the Special Needs Community (special needs youth are high profile targets of abuse, bullying)
- The impacts and effects of Abuse and Domestic Abuse/Violence on the LGBT Community (suicides, ostracized, isolations, withdrawals, segregation)
- The impacts and effects of Workplace Abuse/Violence on the individual, family and health
- You're NOT/NEVER Alone, really? What does that mean - many times this is said but never explained what it means
- Who are the solutions providers and what are the solutions being provided for individuals, children, youth, adults, couples, single parents
- Alternatives to Incarceration – what happens when innocent people get caught in bad situations? Solutions for adults and youth.
- Anger Management and Conflict Resolution – what they mean, offer and the need for these to be implemented in our educational system
- The Human Technology, Living in the 21st Century – the integration of technology in our lives, values, resources, challenges and the law/legalities they present
- Raising a family in the 21st Century – focus on the youth, youth challenges, parenting and support for both
- Suicide Intervention and Awareness on a public level – how to address suicide awareness in a more effective way to the public
- A special presentation for Veterans – assimilating back into society and the special services, support and resources that are available for them
- A presentation on SISFI’s Abuse and Suicide First Aid Response Centers – the values of thinking holistic and offering needed services under one roof.
There will be special live performances and a panel discussion to wrap up the event. Admission is free and we are asking for donations towards the work and initiatives of the organization as we continue doing what we can to help those suffering in silence and are in dire need of help, support and services.
